Chris Nicol just blew his knee, poor wee man!

Thursday, 10 May 2012

Lately I've been having a fair bit of time off my bike as I have popped my knee out, again. this time pretty bad! About a week after i came back from newtons nation I was feeling pretty confident whilst riding at the shed. So I thought why not try a 360 barspin to tail whip over their brand new resi box? I had tried this trick a handful of times into foam and thought I would just send it. I gave it a go and just slipped my back foot when landing the whip and my knee just dislocated, so for about a month and a bit I'm gonna have a chilled out time with no riding and hopefully don't need surgery but I'll come back stronger then ever for the big contest season in the near future! As far as my situation goes right now I'm pretty keen to get on my bike! But I'm even more keen to be riding 100% healthy! Peeeeeeace :) Photo: Chris Slade

Jed Mildon and the Teva Slopestyle event!

Thursday, 03 May 2012

Next part of the full jam packed journey I headed to stay with Unit Rider Kelly Mcgarry in Queenstown. He ran the Teva Slopestyle event which i was keen to get amongst. That I did the course was pretty sick thanks to Tom and Kellys sick course design. Through the week in Queenstown we rode Gorge road as much as we could with Nathan Greenwood, Nate took us downhilling up the gondaller which was so intense. Then rolled round the event under lights which went sick. Langlands and I rode the best trick comp with Langbanger taking the win with the cron dog. here is the video of the event...

Jed Mildon, Wairoa Y-Not jam.

Wednesday, 02 May 2012

The past month in NZ has been full of fun and games. It started a month ago with the Wairoa Y-Not jam, then I headed to the deep south with a all nighter to make my flight to Queenstown for a week, then to the Frew Farm for 2 weeks to explore, then back up north to ride with the boys and do video shows in the weekend with Luke Smith and Skinny Mobile. The Wairoa Y-Not Jam was a success for the little kids of Wairoa Skate park thanks to Unit, Red Bull and the rad riders of NZ and the BExtreme skate crew from Taupo. The kids were blown away with baddass Red Bull rider Jayden Lemming blowing even my mind with his fluent style! My Taupo bro Blamo doing what he does best and the BExtreme skate crews rad skaters shown the kids of Wairoa whats possible for kids of all ages. We were treated to a hangi by my uncles and aunty's and got on the piss with them and had a good night! check out the vid my good mate Carlos Meanos Cavanagh made

Chris Nicol and the Newton's Nations weekend!

Tuesday, 01 May 2012

Well this past 5 days I have been in Sydney competing in the newtons nation contest with my fellow team mate's Cam Pianta and Jai Bradley. I signed up for both disciplines (dirt and mini ramp) in the pro category for the first time in my life! In mini ramp I only just made finals as I qualified last which was fair enough considering I was against some of the biggest names in BMX such as Kyle Baldock, Ryan Guettler etc. After qualifying for mini ramp was qualifying for dirt, I rode terrible in that. On my first run I popped out my knee, again. That ruined all my runs which didn't let me qualify for finals, pretty bummed about that. But then the mini ramp pro final came around the day after and I rode the best I have ever ridden! So even if I placed last I still would have been stoked. Anyway I ended up throwing down some pretty consistent moves and JUST fell short of 3rd place by a quarter of a point to Ryan Guettler, then mini, then Kyle Baldock! Can't even describe how stoked I am right now! Thanks to everyone that made this weekend happen, and a big thanks to pilgrim and riding way!

Chris Nicol and Jai Bradley take out the Shed comp!

Sunday, 22 April 2012

Well today was the annual shed comp and I am proud to say Pilgrim Rider's Jai Bradley and Chris Nicol took out first place in both under 15 and Open. Jai came out banging with double whips and 540 bar spins. Later in the afternoon open contest was on and Chris was on a mission. Stoked to see him flowing the whole park throwing down where ever he could and finished off with a nice flair whip. So stoked for them both, well deserved wins!
